Tendency in Indonesian Newspaper Editorials: Genre and APPRAISAL Studies

Editorial is an important part of newspapers since the opinions expressed can influence reader's point view. The two major Indonesian news media that publish editorials in their are Kompas and Tempo. This study explores potential differences editorial characters between Tempo regarding 2024 election issue. To achieve this goal, organizational structure texts examined attitudinal tendencies investigated. method used analytical discourse framework by Systemic Functional Linguistics (SFL) particular genre (Iedema, et al., 1994) APPRAISAL (Martin White, 2005).
